Columbia Heights / A.H. Anderson Scholarship Selection Committee Two Year College Program & Application
The purpose of the Columbia Heights/A. H. Anderson (CHAHA) Scholarship Selection Committee is to assist recipients with their post-high school education pursuit. The scholarship award is not intended to cover the full cost of school-related expenses. There will be one (1) scholarship award per year, which will be determined by the CHAHA Scholarship Selection Committee.
The total scholarship award will be $500 for one (1) selected student and the award will be paid during the fall semester
Guidelines
- • This scholarship will only be awarded to a high school senior each year. The scholarship award program is designated as tuition or school-related expense and will be paid directly to the recipient’s school of choice upon verification of acceptance.
- • Scholarships will be awarded annually.
- • To be eligible for the CHAHA scholarship, applicants must meet all requirements.
- • The Scholarship Selection Committee will evaluate each applicant based on adopted guidelines.
- • Incomplete applications will not be considered for evaluation.
- • The scholarship recipient will be informed of acceptance by August 1, 2026.
- • A completed application package, to include supporting materials and essay, must be postmarked and/or received by June 1, 2026. Mailing address is:

Requirements
- • Must be a relative of a former CHAHA student, AHA alumni member or participant in the Diggs-Latham United Dreamers mentoring program.
- • Must be a high school graduate in the year of application.
- • Must use funds for tuition or school-related expenses.
- • Must have a cumulative overall high school grade point average (GPA) of 2.80 or higher.
Application Summary (All materials must be submitted together)
- • All applications must be typed or clearly printed in blue or black ink.
- • Every blank in the scholarship application must be completed. This includes a complete address and zip code. If a particular part of the application does not apply to the applicant, N/A should be inserted.
The following items must accompany the scholarship application:
- • Official high school transcript
- • Copy of college acceptance letter
- • Two (2) letters of recommendation (may be from teachers, athletic coaches, employers, or volunteer supervisors/coordinators
- • Confirmation of relationship to former CHAHA student:
- Name (first, maiden, last)
- Dates attended
Essay Requirements
- • Typed
- • Double-spaced
- • 12 point font – Times New Roman, Arial or Calibri
- • Provide a clear, concise answer to your selected question
- • Use your own words and personality
Choose from one of the following questions:
- • How will college impact your personal and professional life?
- • How will you use your college experience to make the world a better place?
- • How will the investment of others motivate you to do the same?
